I'm Your Man

Despite the writer's strike, new episodes of primetime TV series are airing tonight. I've totally missed 30 Rock. And my wife has gone through Ugly Betty withdrawal. So, you can guess what we will be doing.

That isn't why I'm writing though. I'm recommending that ALL OF YOU record the remarkable documentary on Leonard Cohen tonight on the Sundance Channel. Leonard Cohen is a legendary singer songwriter who inspired the likes of Bono and The Edge from U2. Anyway, the trailer looks awesome. And I don't want to miss it but of course, I want to see 30 Rock and the other new prime time shows. Good thing I have DVR.

Don't have a DVR? Check out what you are missing here.

The Wire

The best show ever is back. The fifth and final season of the critical darling and my personal favorite, The Wire premieres Sunday night on HBO. Fortunately for me, I have many ways that I can view this show. First of all, because HBO is awesome, the fist episode has been On Demand since Monday. Before you ask, yes, I have watched it. Secondly, its gonna be available in high definition Sunday night. So you know I'm gonna watch it again. Not only that, I love the show so much, I'm gonna watch at 9pm and then at again at 12am on HBO West. And Monday night? I'm watching episode 2. Yeah, I know, I'm a geek. But really, y'all should be geeking out over this show too because it is THE BEST!

You can catch the 4th season of The Wire on HBO on Demand along with the fifth season premiere. Watch The Wire on HBO, also available in high definition, Sunday at 9pm.

Happy New Year!

Wow! It's been long time. I've totally been busy. 2007 was rough so I know '08 is gonna be smooth sailing in comparison.

What have I been up to, you ask? Just, You know, enjoying all the good stuff that comes with Time Warner Cable. I know its not Thanksgiving but I totally have to give thanks to my Digital Cable. The writer's strike is hurting me. I mean, really deep hurt. But with Digital Cable, I have a lot to watch. And my DVR makes sure that I never miss anything. Plus, there are tons of new HD Channels that I am totally geeking out over. And don't get me started on the NHL network.

Don't let the writer's strike get you down. Check out what Digital Cable has to offer for yourself.

One of My Favorite Things

While I do not get any joy out of raindrops on roses nor whiskers on kittens, I do have a few favorite things. One of things right now that I think is absolutely wonderful is High Defintion television. And lately, I've been enjoying postseason baseball in HD. Time Warner just launched TBS in HD and as I am sure you have heard, TBS is the new home of the MLB. I'm pretty sure that I can hear every call that is made. The sound is awesome and the picture? Flawless.

TBS in HD is available statewide on channel 838.

Football Tracker and My Imaginary Friends

So, lets just say I participate in a league. While its not the Justice League, it's still pretty fun. It involves football. Some would call it an fanta..., um I mean, an imaginary team.  So, anyway, My Football Tracker has been very helpful. The wife used to complain that I was always on the computer. But now I can keep track of my roster without ever leaving the couch. Best of all, the wife and I can be watching "America's Next Top Model" and I will still get scoring and injury alerts right on the screen. Gotta love the ticker, is what I say.

My Football Tracker is available free with DVR service.

DVR Workout

So, this week is basically premiere week in primetime. There are my returning favorites of course. HEROES in high definition just can't be beat and the wife is looking forward to Dancing with the Stars. Fall is also the time to try out the new shows. But some of the shows are up against returning favorites. What's a TV-holic to do? DVR, baby, DVR! My DVR is already set to record Chuck (i'm kinda' doubtful but you know, I've been surprised before), Journeyman (starring the guy from Rome, not Pullo but the other one - unfortunately sans accent), and Big Bang Theory (the wife thinks it will be amusing). I think the only thing I am not recording tonight is The Bachelor (although I suspect the wife may have put that one on the list too).

So, pretty much, all this week I'm going to be in TV Heaven. Please, do not disturb - every waking non-work minute will be filled with the machinations of the real and unreal. Does that even make sense? I know, I know I'm rambling. But I'm so excited and I just can't hide it. Pointer Sisters was too much, right? Sorry.

Will it Ever End?

All I'm gonna say is R. Kelly needs to be stopped. And IFC should stop encouraging his nonsense. For those of you who are interested in the foolishness that is Trapped in the Closet, Chapters 13-22 premiere tonight on IFC. Check out the website to figure out who's who in this mess. Kels is trying to do his best Eddie Murphy impression cuz he plays like 5 different characters.

IFC is available on the Digital Movie Tier Channel 189.
